Maria has a wealth of industry experience in preparing federal and New York state tax returns for S-corporations, partnerships, not-for profit and individual clients. She also has extensive outsource accounting management experience with the preparation of monthly bookkeeping services and financial statements for clients ranging from small to mid-size businesses. She joined the firm’s Tax Advisory Group in 2019.

As an Enrolled Agent (EA), Maria is a federally licensed tax practitioner with unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS for any issues relating to collections, audits or tax appeals.

    An enrolled agent has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service in matters relating to collections, audits or tax appeals. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.

Prior Experience

With over a decade of public accounting experience, Maria has served the taxation and transactional needs of clients ranging from small start-ups to large privately held organizations. She began her career at one of the largest regional accounting firms in Western New York, and moved to taxation later where she found her niche researching and resolving sophisticated tax matters on behalf of her clients.

Her work experience also includes service on behalf of a major financial institution as a financial analyst.   While there she completed the annual testing of internal controls as required by Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
