ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Cyber Attacks have negatively impacted many school districts inflicting heavy financial and security losses. In this workshop, participants will learn:
- What is Cyber Security?
- What threats face school districts?
- What protections and controls should every school district have in place?
Among the specific threats that will be addressed will be:
- Ransomware
- Breach of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) on Students and Staff
- Attacks on Critical Infrastructure
- Employee Errors
- Phone Systems
- Power Failures
- “Rogue” or Disgruntled System Administrators
- Recovery Time From An Incident
- Social Media Posts
- Equipment Theft
- Hacking
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
All superintendents, district office and building administrators, technology coordinators and all others who may have to respond to cybersecurity threats. Board of Education members and school attorneys are welcomed.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
William M. Prohn is the Managing Director of Dopkins System Consultants of Buffalo. He serves as the firm’s Director of Information Technology and as such concentrates his practice on the creation of meaningful, practical systems to safeguard the security of businesses and school districts.
Frequently serving as a guest speaker on the topic of Information Security, Bill serves on panels with legal, risk and law enforcement experts and recently testified on cyber security in front of the New York State Assembly. Bill received his MBA in computers and information systems from the University of Rochester (Simon) Business School.
