Is your company is still eligible? Credits and benefits may apply

Although New York State has ended all new participation in the Empire Zone program and the Empire Zones no longer exist as of June 30, 2010, you may yet be able to become certified as an Empire Zone business.  If your Empire Zone application was accepted by the local Empire Zone coordinator before June 29, 2010 and rejected at a higher level, you can still become eligible for the program.  Dopkins and Company successfully helped a client in such a situation.  However, action must be taken now or the opportunity will be lost forever.

If you are already Empire Zone certified you can still claim the following credits:

Manufacturing companies

• Empire Zone Investment Tax Credit can be claimed for all manufacturing equipment purchased, and placed in service, by March 31, 2014
• Empire Zone Employment Incentive Credit can be claimed up to March 31, 2017
• All Empire Zone certified businesses can claim at least some of the credits for the remaining time that they were originally eligible to take the credits before the program expired.
