Joe is the founding partner of Dopkins ABL
Consulting Services: coordinating and supervising all aspects of
field examination services throughout North America as well as
administering and developing their team of ABL due diligence
professionals.
Dopkins ABL Consulting Services helps commercial finance
companies, banks, factors and other financial institutions improve
the profitability of their loan portfolio through effective risk
evaluation, collateral monitoring, and reliable and accurate field
examinations. Strategically located throughout North America with
full-time, experienced field examiners, the firm specializes in
performing pre-loan surveys, recurring collateral field examinations
and other due-diligence procedures to the ABL industry.
Joe has over 18 years experience investigating matters involving
white-collar crime, fraud and corruption. He provides litigation
support and expert witness services to attorneys and lenders in the
area of commercial finance.
He is well recognized within the ABL profession, most recently
co-leading the revision of the course curriculum of the CFA’s
Field Examiner School. He frequently conducts seminars and
participates on industry panels on asset-based lending field
examinations, due diligence, fraud and white-collar crime. He has
written the firm’s asset-based lending field examination policies
and procedures. He is a frequent contributor to the Secured
Lender and the ABFJournal.
Joe is a member of the CFA Education Foundation Governing Board
and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association. He
currently serves as Vice-President-Program Chair and Membership
Co-Chair for the Upstate New York Chapter of the TMA. He is an
associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and
member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and
the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Joe launched Dopkins ABL Consulting in 1990. Prior, he
supervised many of Dopkins & Company, LLP’s audit clients. He has
experience managing, reviewing and conducting audit and review
fieldwork, documenting accounting systems, performing test work to
discover discrepancies/weaknesses and the preparation of financial
statements, and corporate/partnership tax returns in all the various
accounting environments. He has extensive experience in the
following industries: advertising, auto dealerships, common
interest realty associations, construction contractors, extractive
industries — mining, manufacturing, pension plans, publishing,
not-for-profit organizations, retail, and wholesale distributors.
Joe graduated Cum Laude from Canisius College with a B.S. in
Accounting. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New
York.
Doug coordinates and supervises all
aspects of the field examinations and is responsible for compliance
with due dates. He reviews the working papers prepared by examiners
and the completed reports as well as resolves problems during
examinations and insures appropriate level of communication between
the commercial finance organization and field examiners. He manages
and evaluates the performance and provides continuing education for
all department professionals.
Doug is well recognized within the ABL
profession, most recently co-leading the revision of the course
curriculum and instructor of the Commercial Finance Association’s
Field Examiner School. Doug is an instructor for Asset Based
Finance Association’s (ABFA) European Field Audit and Fraud
course The ABFA, formerly known as the FDA, is a UK based trade
association representing the ABL industry in Europe. For his
involvement, Doug was awarded “The Best Newcomer Lecturer” by the
ABFA in 2006.
Prior to joining Dopkins ABL Consulting in 2000,
Doug gained 16 years of accounting experience from public accounting
and the private sector with a 10-year concentration in asset-based
field examinations, most recently as Vice President, Collateral
Examination Manager at HSBC Bank. At HSBC Bank, Doug supervised an
internal staff of 10 and coordinated the outsourcing of field
examinations to multiple outsource firms.
Doug is active in the Commercial Finance
Association and the Turnaround Management Association. A member of
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the NYS
Society of CPAs, he received an MBA in Finance from the State
University of New York at Buffalo and a BBA in Accounting from Siena
College.
Michelle is a strong technically oriented person and an efficient
problem solver. As Michelle takes her responsibilities very
serious, she has earned the respect of several national lenders.
Michelle has lead several multi division examinations, preloans and
recurring exams. Michelle is very detail oriented and time
sensitive with an excellent ability to articulate herself both
verbally and written.
She coordinates the scheduling of field examinations with national
lenders, and reviews working papers and completed reports prepared
by examiners. Michelle is knowledgeable in industries such as
service, distribution, retailers, manufacturers and wholesalers.
Michelle graduated Cum Laude from Niagara University securing a
BBA in Accounting. Michelle joined Dopkins ABL Consulting in 2001.
Prior to joining Dopkins, she obtained five years of public
accounting experience.
Colin brings over fifteen years of experience divided
between public accounting and field auditing experience in
asset-based field examinations. Colin is excellent at completing
large complex examinations that tend to be multi-divisional. He
coordinates the scheduling of field examinations with national
lenders, and reviews working papers and completed reports prepared
by examiners.
Colin works at a quicker-than-average pace and is extremely
attentive to detail. He is a specialist in the industry, ensuring
that examinations are completed properly, while working within the
commercial lenders formal organizational structure.
Colin received a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA from Clarkson
University.
